Block Stone

Blockstone can be supplied either sawn one side squared or plugged and feathered squared.

The Chilmark Stone at Chicksgrove Quarry occurs in 4 distinct beds, each with their own unique characteristics.

A Bed
A hard-wearing stone with high fossil content suitable for internal flooring, external paving, steps, copings, hearths etc. Max Block size: 15 tonne / 1000mm Bed Height

B Bed
A close grained stone highly regarded by stone masons nationally. Thousands of tonnes of this stone have been used in the Salisbury Cathedral restoration programme. Max Block size: 10 tonne / 650mm Bed Height

C Bed
This stone is processed in our guillotine/tumbling plant to produce walling stone. Max Block Size: 1 Tonne / 350mm Bed Height

D Bed
This stone is softer than our other 3 beds. It is a close grained extremely consistent stone with little or no shell content, suitable for fireplaces and general masonry. Max Block Size: 5 Tonne / 650mm Bed Height
