Lovell Stone Group’s Chicksgrove dimensional block-stone limestone quarry is situated close to Tisbury, Wiltshire, and is the only active source of Chicksgrove stone in Britain.

The stone is a fine grained creamy white limestone from the Upper Portland series and is nationally renowned as one of Britain’s finest building and masonry stones. This historic stone was used to build Salisbury Cathedral 800 years ago and has been traditionally used as a building material from Devon to as far north as Warwickshire.

The geology at Chicksgrove changes from Purbeck to Portland and produces some unique beds such as Oyster and Spangle with stunning fossilisation in the stone.

The variety of stone beds suit a wide range of applications and the stone is an approved match for Kentish Ragstone, Reigate Stone, Malmstone and Clunch Stone.
